Engineering of nuclear systems requires multi-disciplinary R&D accounting for radiation transport, thermal-fluids, material science, chemistry and corrosion, and more. Modeling and simulation plays an important role in technology development, especially when considering nuclear’s unique licensing landscape. This talk will describe the application of exascale simulation to multiphysics applications in nuclear engineering, by focusing on the development of exascale solvers for radiation transport and thermal-fluids through the ExaSMR project under the Exascale Computing Project, and their integration in an internationally-used and developed multiphysics framework, the Multiphysics Object-Oriented Simulation Environment (MOOSE).
